No More Baseball
With the awakening of the CoronaVirus epidemic there will be no base ball until further notice. What is going on right now is awful and very hard to believe but we all need to not worry about baseball and focus on what is going on around us. Hopefully soon all doctors and scientists will have come up with a cure to help stop this awful thing that has already killed a couple people. Just thinking about it makes you wonder what is going to happen next. Baseball will one day open there gates again and everyone will be joyful and ready for the regular season. Until then we need to focus on our own lives. Baseball isn’t the only sport that has suspended all play, every single sports team has suspended all games until further notice. We all just need to focus on ourselves at this moment and it will all work itself out and we will be able to watch games again like nothing ever happened in the first place. You wonder when it is going to end but it just keeps getting worse and worse. We all just need to hope for the best that it will end it in a peaceful way and no one else has to get hurt. All of us Yankees fans know that when all of this does end we will be ready to watch the Yankees again and they will be more than ready to conquer this season than any other before.
Montgomery´s Great Games
On Saturday march 1st of the 2020 spring training season Jordan Montgomery made his second outing against the Yankees rivals the Boston Red Sox. Montgomery is a 27 year old lefty pitcher on the Yankees who was a great addition to the New York Yankees at the end of the 2018 season. During Saturday’s game he threw two scoreless innings in which he gave up one hit, struck out four batters and didn´t allow a single walk. He was dismissed from play when he left a game and had to get Tommy John surgery. That’s not even his best start yet this spring training. In his start on Tuesday against the Blue Jays Montgomery threw four perfect innings where he looked like an ace out on the mound. During those four innings he retired all twelve batters that he faced. Although the Yankees lost the game 4-2 it wasn´t Montgomery’s fault because he was taken out during the fourth inning to give someone else a chance.
Gerrit Cole´s First Start
The New York Yankees right hand throwing pitcher Gerrit Cole made his first spring training start for the Yankees on Monday night. He had recently just joined the team this year after coming from the Houston Astros. Since it is a spring training game the pitchers don’t usually pitch more than two innings that way they can have all there pitchers get a nice warm up before the season gets underway. Gerrit was the first pitcher on the mound that night where he would pitch the first inning of play. In that inning he threw a total of 20 pitches where 12 were strikes and 8 were balls. Overall it was a great start to his career with the Yankees. One inning doesn’t really show what kind of year the pitcher is going to have but it gets the pitcher thinking about the season and what he is going to do to improve his game. He had 2 strikeouts in the inning which shows that he can find the zone and put the pitch exactly where he wants it to go. If I were Gerrit I would be happy with this start because it shows that everything he has practiced this year is paying off for his season to be great. He will most likely be able to be able to pitch a few more games in spring training and hopefully the Yankees will let him pitch more than just the first inning. If this happens we will get a better look at how he will be pitching this season.
Yankees vs. Redsox
The Yankees vs. Redsox is one of the best matchups in all of baseball. Both teams are very competitive and don’t go down without a fight. Both teams win games against each other it is never one sided. This year in spring training however the Yankees have been on top winning both the games they have played against each other. So far they have outscored the Sox by a score of 14-3. Putting numbers up like that in just 2 games makes the Yankees look like nothing is in there way and no one can stop them. With only a few games left in spring training facing the red sox you wonder if the sox can do anything to make a come back. Even though spring training is just practice games for each team it is still an accurate representation of how the team will actually do this year. Imagine if the Yankees won every game this year against them? It is very unlikely but it can always happen with the way they are starting. But maybe they are just starting off slow and haven’t figured out the best rotation for all their players. Maybe the sox are trying new things and bringing up a lot of prospects to see how they are doing. There are many key factors that can be the reason for them starting off this way but I am expecting them to get right back into action and maybe they will win the next game against the Yankees.
After A Rough Start The Yankees Are On The Rise
Things didn’t start all that well for the Yankees in there first games of the spring training season where they would lose both games. Apart from this they would make an early comeback and put themselves back in the race for there division with a record of six and three. With plenty of games left in the spring season you wonder where the Yankees will end up. But I think it is safe to say with the lineup they are putting together that they will be starting off as one of the best teams this year, and as a fan favorite and the team projected to win they have a lot of weight on their shoulders. The coach will have to make some of the toughest decisions this year to try and get his team the championship, but with one of the best lineups in both hitting and fielding I believe that they will be able to be in the top 3 as an overall team and maybe even another championship. It all has to do with whether or not players can keep themselves from getting hurt as well as also staying out of trouble. There are so many key factors that can put a team ahead of all the others as well as put them so far behind other teams. The Yankees are one of the hottest teams in baseball though but it will all show in the season if they can handle all this pressure. The Yanks will continue to focus on getting better and better in there spring training games before the season starts and it will show how good they will do depending on how they do in spring training. We will find out if they actually have what it takes to be the best.
The Yankees 2nd Spring Training Game
The New York Yankees played on February 23rd where they played the Tampa Bay Rays in Dunedin Florida. It was played in TD Ballpark where the Rays hosted the Yanks. The game was played under partly cloudy skies with a nice temperature of 80 degrees throughout the night. The Yanks took a early 1-0 in the top of the second when the runner on first came all the way around to score on a double by Amburgey. The Rays came back in the bottom half of the inning to tie it back up at 1 a piece with 2 singles to make it a first and third situation. Kiermaier would later hit a grounder to 2nd scoring the run from third. Two more runs would score later in the inning with a bloop single and a wild pitch to make it a 3-1 lead by the Rays. The Yankees would later rally back in the 5th inning with a homerun by Andujar. As well as a double, single, and an error to tie it back up 3-3 in the 6th. As well as a couple more singles and errors to make it a 6-3 lead Yanks in the 6th. The Rays would make a comeback scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th. The Yanks would score a run in the top of the 7th to make it 7-5. The Rays would also a run in the bottom of the 7th with bloop singles. Would lead to that with 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to have the Rays leading 9-7. The Rays would end up winning the game 9-7. The Yankees record moved to 0-2.
Who is the Hardest Throwing Pitcher in the MLB?
Aroldis Chapman is the hardest throwing pitcher in the major leagues today. He is currently on the New York Yankees where he comes in to closeout games that are really close in score, or to just get a few batters in. He throws the hardest out of any player and pitcher with a pitch that clocked in at 105 mph. His fastball being his hardest pitch makes his off speed pitches around 85 mph which is still really good since off speed pitches are a lot slower than the fastball. He is a Cuban-born American professional baseball pitcher where he started off in the Cuban National Series Holguin. During his career he played for other teams including the Cincinnati Reds, and the Chicago Cubs. His best year being last year in 2019 where he had just a 2.21 earned run average. Things are looking up for him with a 5 year/86 million dollar contract through 2021 and free agency in 2022 where someone will definitely pick him up and give him a great contract. He exceed his rookie limits in 2011 the year after his debut in 2010. Overall Chapman has had a great career only going between 3 different teams having great stats and making plenty of money through the years. With new pitchers coming to the MLB every year and Aroldis Chapman being an older player in his thirties someone in the next couple years will definitely be able to beat his stats with overall speed with his fastball, and also overall speed in his off speed pitches.
Who is Gerrit Cole?
Gerrit Cole is a professional pitcher for the New York Yankees. He has previously pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Houston Astros. He was drafted to the MLB in 2011 by the Pirates and was the first overall pick. He is a right hand pitcher (RHP) with a lot of velocity and junk pitches. Overall his stats are outstanding have about a 3.22 earned run average and more than 1,000 strikeouts. He even exceeded his rookie limits in 2013 showing that he is an outstanding player. Gerrit´s stats show that he is a go to pitcher because of how much experience he has and what he brings to the table each and every game. It is no wonder why he has such good games. Going into 2020 he is playing for the Yankees and has a 8 year/324 million dollar contract, and will be a free agent in 2029. His stats show that the Yankees want him for awhile because of how well he plays. At just 29 years of age he is looking to have one of the best pitching records and stats of all time and maybe even a hall of famer. Gerrit Cole’s first year with the Yankees is just around the corner and we will see just how well he is able to do with changing teams. Will he be able to keep up his stats and have an amazing ERA or will he be a backup? We will find out this year if he really is what everyone says that he is.
Will Aaron Judge Be The Next Best Yankee?
The Yankees drafted Aaron Judge back in 2013 as the 32nd pick overall. They received this pick as compensation because of losing Nick Swisher to free agency. He didn’t actually start playing until 2016 but he was already one of the best prospects to come out of the Yankees organization. In his first career at bat with the Yankees he hit a homerun to straight away center. In 2017 he had already succeeded the rookie limit wasting no time at all. He is already doing so much in the MLB and has only been in for 3 years. The numbers that Aaron put in were numbers you would expect from someone who has been in the league for at least 10 years. His best year so far was in 2017 when he had 52 home runs and over 100 RBIs. During his other years he has done pretty well keeping his numbers close to each other and keeping a good average. In his 3 years playing he has received Rookie of the Year, is a 2x All-Star, and has a Silver Slugger award. With the next season almost here he is looking to put up some more amazing numbers and is going to do even better than his years so far. He has decided to stay with the Yankees for this year getting a contract through the 2020 season earning around 8.5 million this year which is crazy after only making almost 700k last year. Aaron Judge will hopefully have another good year this year and maybe even win the American League title.
Why Derek Jeter Made it To the Hall of Fame
Derek Jeter wasn’t any regular baseball player he was a leader, a captain, and most importantly a good person both on and off the field. He never made anything about him he would always focus on others. He is one of the most well known athletes in the MLB for his kindness and is a role model for so many people all over the world. He is best known as ¨Re2pect¨ because he shows so much respect for the game and the people playing it. He is one of the best people you will ever meet that shows so much for one thing. Some players get very disrespectful at times during games because they don’t agree with something, but Derek isn’t like those people he continuously puts in his best effort and treats everyone the way he would want to be treated. The way he was around others was amazing but even his playing on the field was unbelievable. Derek put up some really good numbers in his seasons playing with the Yankees. He had the most hits of any Yankee player with 3,465 career hits, and was sixth on the all time in MLB history for his hits and first among all playing shortstop. He also received many awards like 14 All-Star selections, five gold glove awards, five silver slugger awards, two Hank Aaron awards, and a Roberto Clemente award. Derek Jeter was one of the best players ever known in the MLB and that’s why he was named to be Captain of the New York Yankees and also to be named to be in the Hall of Fame.
